High Point Rockers News Release

HIGH POINT, N.C. - The High Point Rockers were held to four hits by five York pitchers as the Revolution took a 6-2 decision in the opening game of a three-game series in front of 2,006 fans at Truist Point on Friday night.

After being held to two hits on Thursday by Charleston, the Rockers had a double, a single and a pair of home runs on Friday.

The Revolution struck first, when Matt McDermott stroked a lead-off double in the first, moved to third on a deep fly to center then scored on a wild pitch by High Point starter Ryan Weiss. York added a pair of runs in the second when Jacob Rhinesmith doubled and scored on a two-run homer by Ciaran Devenney to give the Revs a 3-0 lead. Devenney struck again in the fourth inning with another two-run shot that put York up 5-0.

The Rockers rallied in the bottom of the fourth as Nick Longhi blasted his fourth homer of the year, a solo shot, and Zander Wiel added his third of the season to cut the lead to 5-2.

York first baseman David Washington, who signed with the Revs earlier in the day, stroked a solo homer leading off the sixth to make it a 6-2 game.

Weiss went 4.2 innings and allowed seven hits and five runs while striking out six with one walk. York's Ethan Lindow went five innings and held the Rockers to three hits in earning the win. Lindow struck out four while not issuing a walk.

Game two of the York at High Point series is slated for a 6:35 p.m. start on Saturday at Truist Point. It will be Coy Williard Night as the Rockers celebrate their chairman of the board.
