Revolution Swim In A Sea Of Purple To A Tune Of $9,500

York Revolution News Release
(York, Pa.): Fans who flocked to Sovereign Bank Stadium on Thursday, August 2 saw a very different color scheme on the field than what they are used to.
Instead of the white home jerseys that are worn by both players and coaches, this night was special, as they were sporting purple jerseys in honor of the Big Brothers Big Sisters color scheme. On the field, the batter's box and the bases were even spray painted purple for the occasion.
A silent auction on the purple jerseys worn by the players and coaches was happening outside in the concourse area, which closed at the end of the third out in the bottom of the seventh inning.
When the game ended, the winners of the jerseys were escorted onto the field to receive their signed jersey, which came right off of their backs. The winners also got the opportunity to pose for a picture and meet the player or coach whom they won the bid on.
At this time, it was announced that $9,500 was raised in silent auction bids on the purple jerseys, which benefited Big Brothers Big Sisters.
"Everyone at Big Brothers Big Sisters is just thrilled with the outcome of Purple Jersey Night. The whole event far exceeded our expectations. The Jersey auction was a tremendous success, and the event provided a wonderful opportunity to raise awareness of the organization and our programs," said Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters, Bob Banfill.
The second team Jersey auction will take place on Tuesday, August 28 against the Lancaster Barnstormers. Players and coaches will be wearing their White Rose Jerseys for the final time, to then be auctioned off after the game.
The Revs won 9-1 against the Riversharks for the second consecutive night, improving their second-half record to 14-6. 1st place Atlantic League York Revolution take on the Road Warriors Friday, August 3 - Sunday, August 5 at Sovereign Bank Stadium.
