York Revolution News Release

The York Revolution saw its first place lead in the south division shrink to only a half game, suffering a 10-4 defeat to the Road Warriors in front of 3,051 fans at Sovereign Bank Stadium Friday night. The loss drops York to 14-7 in the second half, while the Road Warriors improve to 8-14, snapping a three-game losing streak.

Travis Ezi led off the game for the Road Warriors with his seventh homerun of the season, on a towering drive into the Downtown Playground in left-center. The lead increased to 2-0 in the top of the second on David Housel's RBI groundball single through the left side of the infield. Two more homeruns in the third inning made it a 5-0 lead, as Ian Bladergroen crushed his sixth out toward the clubhouse in rightfield, and Jason Bryan followed that up one out later with a solo bomb over the playground in left-center. Revs starter David Maust, who had worked seven or more innings in each of his previous four starts, lasted just three frames, allowing five earned runs on six hits.

The Revs got on the board in the third, on an RBI double by Rayner Bautista to right-center, scoring Keoni De Renne who reached on a fielder's choice. It was Bautista's third consecutive game with a double, and his 25th on the season, ranking third in the league.

Byron Batson entered in the fourth inning, and the Road Warriors scored twice more on an RBI single to center by Josh Arteaga, and an RBI double to right-center by Vito Chiaravollotti.

The Revs chased Road Warriors starter Damien Myers from the game in the sixth inning, scoring twice on three hits. Four straight reached against Myers after getting the first out. Ramon Nivar singled to left, Greg Brown was hit by a pitch, De Renne doubled off the Arch Nemesis driving in Nivar, and Bautista reached on an RBI infield single. That was all the Revs would manage, however, as Jeff Scott went to his bullpen calling on submarine-throwing right-hander Chris Eichkorst, who after a walk to load the bases, struck out Justin Singleton, and retired Matt Dryer on a sharp lineout to short ending the inning.

York drew one closer in the seventh on an RBI single by Keoni De Renne to rightfield, but missed a chance for more runs, as Eichkorst induced an inning-ending 4-3 double play off the bat of Bautista.

The Road Warriors added insurance in the eighth on a two-run homer to dead center by Vito Chiaravollotti. It was his 13th longball of the season, and the first in Sovereign Bank Stadium to clear the fence in dead centerfield. Their final run came across in the ninth inning on an RBI double by Gabe Suarez.

Notes: Maust (5-3) saw his team-record five-game winning streak come to an end... Myers (2-11) picked up the win... the Road Warriors pounded eight extra-base hits in the game (four doubles and four homers), the most by any Revs opponent this season... the Revs left 14 runners on, a new team-record for a nine-inning game... they stranded 11 during a five-inning stretch between the third and seventh... eight of the 14 runners were left in scoring position... Brown reached base four times for the Revolution without recording an at-bat (three walks and a hit-by-pitch)... all 10 position players for the Road Warriors recorded a base hit... every Revs starter reached base in the game, and seven of the nine had hits... the series continues Saturday night at 7:05 with Frank Castillo on the mound for York, opposed by Darwin Soto... there will be a postgame Fireworks Extravaganza courtesy of FlipSide, and a scratch-off card giveaway presented by Ettline Foods.
