Revolution Spank the Bluecrabs to Complete the Sweep

(York, PA)--- Despite scoring two early runs in the game, York banged out 18 hits, and scored 15 runs to defeat Southern Maryland by the final of 15-2.

For the second consecutive night, Southern Maryland took the lead first. With a runner on base, the hot hitting Zach Wilson came to the plate, and drove a homerun over the wall to make it 2-0.

The bats for York came alive in the bottom of the second scoring four runs. Brandon Boggs was hit by a pitch. Two batters later Yeicok Calderon singled, and Telvin Nash walked to load the bases. Salvador Paniagua lashed a double to score Boggs, and Calderon to tie the game at 2-2. Mikey Reynolds then came to the plate with runners at second and third, and hit a sacrifice fly to center to score Nash. Jose Constanza singled to score Paniagua to cap off the four run inning, and make it 4-2.

The scoring for York continued in the bottom of the third. Brandon Boggs scored on an Andres Perez single, followed by a Yeicok Calderon double to right field to score Perez to make it 6-2. Two innings later, York pushed two more runs across on a Yeicok Calderon two run homerun to make it 8-2. Salvador Paniagua led off the bottom of the sixth with a solo homerun to make it 9-2.

Southern Maryland pitching struggled all night, and the struggles continued in the bottom of the eighth. With Closer Erik Hamren summoned from the bullpen, York scored six runs on seven hits. With two runners on, Bryan Pounds lined a single to center to score Mikey Reynolds. Two batters later Andres Perez smashed a double to left field to score Wilson Valdes to make it 11-2. The next hitter Yeicok Calderon lifted a homerun over the wall in left. With that three run shot, that made the score 14-2. After a Telvin Nash double, Salvador Paniagua singled to left to score Telvin Nash to bring the score to its final of 15-2.

Every hitter in the Revolution starting lineup had at least one hit except for Nick Ferdinand. Yeicok Calderon went 4-5, with six RBIs, while Paniagua drove in four RBIs as well. York finished the series with hitting at an astounding .426 clip as a team. Southern Maryland had just four hits in the game, while RHP Brian Baker went five innings, allowing eight runs, on eight hits, receiving the loss for his effort.

Southern Maryland returns home for a four game homestand beginning tomorrow afternoon at 2:05 P.M. at Regency Furniture Stadium. LHP Wade Korpi (3-3, 5.80) will start for Southern Maryland, while RHP Cody Scarpetta (1-2, 2.00) will throw for Bridgeport.
