New England Revolution News Release

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution (8-3-6; 30 pts.) will host Orlando City SC (7-4-5; 26 pts.) begin the second half of the 2023 MLS regular season campaign on Saturday night at Gillette Stadium. The match kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET and streams on Apple TV in English and Spanish. Steve Cangialosi and Danny Higginbotham will call the match in English, with Bruno Vain and Andres Agulla providing Spanish commentary. Saturday's match can also be heard on the radio locally on 98.5 The Sports Hub, with Brad Feldman and Clyde Simms calling the action, and on 1260 AM Nossa Radio USA in Portuguese.

The Revolution are entering the second leg of a three-game homestand following last weekend's 3-1 win over Inter Miami CF in front of a season-high crowd of 36,235 fans at Gillette Stadium. Last Saturday's victory improved New England's home record to 5-0-3, as the Revolution continue to make Gillette Stadium their fortress as one of our MLS teams still unbeaten at home this season. The Revolution have scored three-or-more goals in half of their home games thus far, as their 2.25 goals per home game is fourth best in MLS. With a win over Orlando City SC, the Revolution will match the club's best-ever start at home (6-0-3), set in 2005 and matched in 2015.

While New England is outscoring opponents 18-7 at home through eight matches played in Foxborough, seventh-place Orlando City SC carries a six-match unbeaten streak, 3-0-3, into this weekend's tilt. New England leads the all-time series against the Lions, 6-2-7, including an undefeated 5-0-2 record at Gillette Stadium. Orlando City will look to earn a result on the road despite missing several key players to international duty including their leading scorer, Uruguayan forward Facundo Torres, and starting goalkeeper Pedro Gallese.

In last weekend's victory, Revolution captain Carles Gil propelled New England's attack with contributions on all three goals as he tallied once from the penalty spot and assisted on goals from forward Bobby Wood and midfielder Matt Polster. Gil, who earned a selection to MLS Team of the Matchday 18, owns three goals and three assists in his last four games played. The 2021 MLS MVP ranks among MLS leaders in chances created (T-2nd- 43) and assists (T-3rd-7). Similarly, Wood is also performing in top form with three goals and one assist in his last four appearances. Forward Gustavo Bou made his first start in returning from a leg injury, registering a 65-minute performance.

New England will be without goalkeeper Djordje Petrović and defender Christian Makoun, who are on international with Serbia and Venezuela, respectively, for Saturday's match. Goalkeeper Earl Edwards Jr. is the likely candidate to make his first start of the 2023 campaign in Petrović's absence. Edwards Jr., a former Orlando City SC player who made his MLS debut with the Lions in 2017, made four starts for New England last season, posting a 1-2-1 record with one clean sheet. In the backline, right back Brandon Bye is nearing a return to action after missing the last four matches due to a shoulder injury. Left back DeJuan Jones is available for Saturday's match before he departs next week for the 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup with the U.S. Men's National Team.

Special Olympics Massachusetts Unified Soccer Match

The New England Revolution Unified Soccer Team will host the Chicago Fire FC Unified Soccer Team following Saturday's MLS match. Fare encouraged to relocate to The Fort after the match to cheer on the Special Olympics Massachusetts Unified athletes as they kick off the ninth season of Revolution Unified Soccer. Last week, the 16 members of the Unified Tram partnered with Revolution players, coaches, and sponsors for the return of Bowl for a Goal presented by Arbella Insurance at Patriot Place, which raised over $125,000 for Special Olympics Massachusetts. The Unified Team will also play a road match this season on Sunday, August 20, against the Nashville SC Unified Team at Geodis Park.

Juneteenth Match

The Revolution will dedicate Saturday's match to the Juneteenth holiday by highlighting various members of the local Black community and grassroots organizations engaged in the ongoing pursuit of social justice and equity. Latoria Boyd, a local BAMS Fest-affiliated artist, will perform both the national anthem and "Lift Every Voice and Sing." Be Inclusive will promote their Multicultural Books Initiative and their annual Juneteenth festival in Walpole, Mass., with a concourse activation, while Juneteenth facts and local Juneteenth celebrations will be featured on the Gillette Stadium videoboards. Saturday's Hero of the Match will honor the Center for Health and Justice Transformation, while halftime will feature a dance performance by OrigiNation. Major League Soccer's leaguewide auction will feature a unique, team-signed New England Revolution jersey, with proceeds from the Revs' jersey auction benefitting the Center for Health and Justice Transformation.
