FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution (0-4-0; 0 pts.) will host Chicago Fire FC (1-2-1; 4 pts.) on Saturday afternoon at Gillette Stadium. The match kicks off at 2:00 p.m. ET and is available to watch on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV in English and Spanish. Listen to the Revolution's local radio calls on 98.5 The Sports Hub HD2, with Brad Feldman and Rachel Wood in the booth, and on 1260 AM "Nossa Radio USA" in Portuguese.
New England welcomes Chicago Fire FC to Foxborough this weekend for the second match of a three-game MLS homestand for the Revolution, who are looking to build on a 10-game unbeaten streak against Chicago dating back to 2019. New England and Chicago have battled to five consecutive draws, including a 2-2 stalemate in the most recent encounter on Sept. 23, 2023, at Soldier Field. Led by Head Coach Frank Klopas, Chicago has one win through its first four games this season, coming last weekend in a dramatic comeback victory against CF Montreal that included two late stoppage-time goals.
On Saturday, Revolution Head Coach Caleb Porter will manage his 300th MLS regular season match, becoming the 13th coach in league history, and one of six active coaches, to reach the milestone. Porter has collected points in 13 of his 14 games coached against Chicago with a 5-1-8 career record against the Fire. Midfielder Carles Gil has had similar success against the Revolution's longtime Eastern Conference rival with two goals and four assists, both team highs, in nine career meetings. In the 2024 campaign, Gil has tallied two goals through four league matches. Only Tomás Chancalay has scored more in all competitions, tallying a team-high four goals while ranking second in MLS with 23 shot attempts.
Forward Giacomo Vrioni enters the weekend tilt in good form, having opened his 2024 MLS account in last weekend's match against FC Cincinnati. The 25-year-old striker has scored in back-to-back matches for the Revolution, giving him two goals and two assists through six appearances in all competitions this season. Vrioni has been especially productive at home, with eight goals and one assist in 17 regular season games at Gillette Stadium, a rate of 0.81 goals per 90 minutes played.
With Matt Polster set to return from a one-game injury absence, New England will gain a veteran presence in the midfield alongside Ian Harkes, who has started the last two league matches, and Canada international Mark-Anthony Kaye. Behind them, the Revolution will look to fill the post of goalkeeper Henrich Ravas, who is away on international duty with Slovakia, with one of the other two backstops on the roster: veteran Earl Edwards Jr. or third-year pro Jacob Jackson. Homegrown midfielders Noel Buck (England Under-19's) and Esmir Bajraktarević (United States Men's Olympic Team) are also unavailable for Sunday's match due to international duty.
