FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - New England Revolution midfielder and Homegrown Player Esmir Bajraktarevic and Revolution Academy graduate Jack Panayotou both earned call-ups to the United States Under-19 Men's Youth National Team ahead of the Slovenia Nations Cup, where the Stars and Strips are set to face Malta, Croatia, and Scotland.
Bajraktarevic, 17, earns his fourth selection to a U.S. youth national team camp. The Academy graduate, who regularly features for Revolution II in MLS NEXT Pro, made his Major League Soccer debut on August 17. The midfielder has since made three league appearances, starting one, in addition to 28 games played with New England' second team since he joined the club in August 2021.
Panayotou, 18, first joined the Revolution Academy in 2019 and made his professional debut with the club's MLS NEXT Pro side on April 3, 2022. The midfielder made nine appearances and two starts with Revolution II before graduating in 2022. Now at Georgetown University, the Cambridge, Mass. native has scored two goals and notched two assists in six games played at the NCAA level and earned Big East Freshman of the Week honors on September 6. This trip to Slovenia marks his third national team call up.
The U.S. Under-19 Men's Youth National Team will face Malta on September 21, Croatia on September 23, and Scotland on September 27. Bajraktarevic and Panayotou join a group of 20 players called up by U-19 USMYNT head coach Marko Mitrović, all of whom are age-eligible for next summer's 2023 FIFA Under-20 World Cup.
