Three LA Galaxy Players Called up for International Duty

LOS ANGELES - The LA Galaxy today announced that defenders Martín Cáceres (Uruguay), Kelvin Leerdam (Suriname) and Eriq Zavaleta (El Salvador) were called up by their respective national teams during the international window.
Cáceres, Leerdam and Zavaleta will miss the LA Galaxy's road match against the San Jose Earthquakes in the 112th edition across all competitions of the California Clásico at Stanford Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 24 (7:00 p.m. PT; Spectrum SportsNet, LAGalaxy.com).
Cáceres, 35, has tallied one assist in four games played (3 starts) during the 2022 MLS Regular Season with the LA Galaxy. In 112 career appearances (38 starts) for the Uruguay Men's National Team, Cáceres has tallied three goals and six assists. Uruguay squares off against Iran at the NV Arena in Sankt Pölten, Austria on Friday, Sept. 23 (9:00 a.m. PT), before facing off against Canada at the Tehelné pole in Bratislava, Slovakia on Tuesday, Sept. 27 (9:00 a.m. PT) in international friendlies.
Leerdam, 32, has made 13 appearances (6 starts) across all competitions for LA during the 2022 campaign. The Paramaribo, Suriname, native has tallied two assists in 11 appearances (11 starts) for the Suriname National Team. Suriname takes on Nicaragua at the Yanmar Stadion in Almere, Netherlands on Thursday, Sept. 22 (11:00 a.m. PT) in an international friendly.
Zavaleta, 30, has made played in six matches (5 starts) across all competitions for the Galaxy this season. The Westfield, Ind., native has tallied two goals in 18 appearances (17 starts) for the El Salvador National Team. El Salvador faces off against Peru at Audi Field in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, Sept. 27 (5:00 p.m. PT) in an international friendly.
As previously announced, defenders Jalen Neal and Marcus Ferkranus, who is on loan with USL Championship side Phoenix Rising FC, were called up by United States U-20 Men's Youth National Team for the 2022 Revelations Cup in Mexico City, Mexico. The U-20 MYNT will square off against Peru on Wednesday, Sept. 21 (2:00 p.m. PT), Mexico on Saturday, Sept. 24 (4:00 p.m. PT) and Paraguay on Tuesday, Sept. 27 (7:00 p.m. PT).
