Revolution and FC Cincinnati Battle to 1-1 Draw

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution (6-1-3; 21 pts.) played FC Cincinnati (6-1-3; 21 pts.) to a 1-1 draw on Saturday night in front of 30,080 at Gillette Stadium to extend their unbeaten run to seven games in MLS regular season play. Emmanuel Boateng tallied his first goal of the season, assisted by Brandon Bye, while goalkeeper Djordje Petrović made four saves, including his fifth career penalty kick save in the 30th minute to help New England remain undefeated at home.

Petrović denied Luciano Acosta from the penalty spot after Revolution forward Justin Rennicks was called for handling in the penalty area. With the stop, Petrović became the fastest player in MLS history to record five penalty saves, doing so in his 31st MLS match and on his 14th attempt faced.

Moments later, Cincinnati opened the scoring when Yerson Mosquera headed in an ensuing corner. New England equalized in first-half stoppage time as Bye drove a cross through the six-yard box to Boateng, who tapped home his first goal of the season. Boateng led the Revolution with four shots and two on target in the match across his 90 minutes of action. The assist was Bye's 20th helper in all competitions for the Revolution.

Two Homegrown Players started the match, as Justin Rennicks led the line with Noel Buck in the midfield. Fellow Revolution Academy product Esmir Bajraktarevic also entered the match in the 22nd minute to replace Dylan Borrero, who left the match with a left knee injury.

With tonight's result, the Revolution remain unbeaten against Eastern Conference opponents, now 4-0-3 on the 2023 season. New England is also undefeated at home through six games for the fourth time in club history, posting a 4-0-2 record in regular season play at Gillette Stadium.

New England hits the road for its next three MLS matches, beginning next Saturday, May 6 at Toronto FC. The 7:30 p.m. kickoff at BMO Field can be seen on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV in both English and Spanish. Brad Feldman and Charlie Davies will have the call on 98.5 The Sports Hub, and the match also airs in Portuguese on 1260 AM Nossa Radio.

TEAM NOTES

The draw keeps the Revolution in first place in the Eastern Conference with a 6-1-3 record and 21 points. New England remains ahead of second-place FC Cincinnati on goal differential.

The Revolution extend their unbeaten streak to seven games (4-0-3) in MLS play.

The Revolution move to 4-0-2 at home and are outscoring opponents 12-3 in Foxborough. New England has yet to concede a goal from open play in six league games at home.

This is the fourth time New England has gone unbeaten in its first six home games of a season, last achieved in 2017.

The Revolution have conceded nine goals through 10 games, tied for the club's fewest at this stage of a season (2005 and 2013).

New England remains unbeaten against Eastern Conference opponents (4-0-3).

INDIVIDUAL NOTES

Emmanuel Boateng tallied his first goal of the campaign in first-half stoppage time. Boateng, making his second start and eighth appearance this season, finished the night with a team-high four shots, with two on target.

Brandon Bye notched his second assist of the regular season, his 20th across all competitions for New England. The defender finished with a team-leading four clearances and five aerials won.

Goalkeeper Djordje Petrović registered his first penalty save of the season in the 32nd minute. With the denial, Petrović became the fastest player in MLS history to record five penalty saves, doing so in his 31st match on his 14th attempt.

Noel Buck played 90 minutes for the third time in eight days (including U.S. Open Cup), registering team highs in successful dribbles (4) and duels won (9).

DeJuan Jones returned to the lineup and played all 90 minutes at left back.

Justin Rennicks earned his first MLS start of the season, creating one chance in 69 minutes. Rennicks also started and scored in Tuesday's U.S. Open Cup win.

Gustavo Bou made his first appearance since April 8, recording one shot on target in 21 minutes in his return from injury.

Bobby Wood also returned to the matchday squad, playing 21 minutes off the bench.
