Resop Pitches One-Hit Shutout

The Gwinnett Braves defeated the Norfolk Tides 4-0 at Harbor Park on Thursday night. In his most dominate start of the season, Chris Resop pitched a one-hit shutout. The win gives G-Braves Manager Dave Brundage his 900th career win. Gwinnett improves to (27-33) and the team remains in second place in the International League South. Norfolk (27-35) dropped to third in the IL South.

It Was Over When: Chris Resop took the mound. After giving up a soft line drive to Rhyne Hughes in the 2nd inning, Resop retired the next 22 batters.

Braves Beat: On the Mound: Resop (5-2) went the distance, allowing 0 R/ER while posting 8 K's and 0 BB. Allowing only one hit in his best outing of the season, Resop faced the minimum batters. At the plate: Matt Young was 2-for-5 with a double, while Barbaro Canizares was 2-for-4. Freddie Freeman had two RBI and a walk.

The Opposition: On the Mound: In his Triple-A debut, Tim Bascum went 7.0 IP, yielding 3 R/ER while giving up six hits and striking out six for the Tides. Jim Miller pitched in relief and finished with 2.0 IP, 1 R (0 ER) and two hits. At the plate: DH Rhyne Hughes (1-for-3) recorded the only hit for the Tides.

On Deck: Gwinnett plays the final game of the four-game series in Norfolk Friday at 7:15 p.m. at Harbor Park. Braves LHP Jo-Jo Reyes (0-3, 5.94 ERA) is scheduled to face LHP Chris George (1-1, 3.71 ERA) of the Tides.
