Gwinnett's Chris Resop threw a one-hit shutout, pitching the Braves to a 4-0 win over the Tides Thursday night at Harbor Park.

Resop (5-2) was brilliant as he faced just 27 batters in the contest in lowering his ERA to 1.84. The only Tides batter to reach base was Rhyne Hughes, who lined a one-out single into center field in the second second inning before he was retired on a double play one batter later.

Resop struck out eight and did not walk a batter, throwing 80 of his 105 pitches for strikes. The 27-year-old right-hander retired each of the final 22 batters he faced.

Resop's gem spoiled the Triple-A debut of Tim Bascom, who took the loss despite allowing just three runs on six hits in seven strong innings. Bascom, who walked one and struck out six, left after allowing back-to-back singles to lead off the eighth inning, with both runners coming around to score against reliever Jim Miller.

Matt Young had two hits and scored two runs in the contest, while Freddie Freeman added two sacrifice flies.

The Tides and Braves will conclude their four-game series on Friday night at Harbor Park, with first pitch scheduled for 7:15. Chris George (1-1, 3.71) will take the mound for Norfolk against Gwinnett southpaw Jo-Jo Reyes (0-3, 5.94).
