Angel Sanchez did not factor into the decision after allowing five runs (four earned) in 2.2 innings of work, finishing with a pair of strikeouts and one walk.
Greg Nappo was excellent in relief of Sanchez as he held the Smokies without a run on two hits in 2.1 innings of work, striking out two batters along the way.
James Nygren allowed two runs (both earned) on three hits in two innings of action and struck out one batter.
Jheyson Manzueta continued his brilliant season as a Sun, retiring the side in order in a perfect top of the eighth.
Joey O'Gara (W, 1-0) earned the win after working two scoreless innings, striking out four Smokies along the way.
Arodys Vizcaino (L, 1-1) took the loss after recording one out in the bottom of the 10th, before serving up the game-winning homer to Alex Burg.
The Smokies opened the scoring with a run in the top of the second inning, using a pair of two-out singles and a walk to load the bases, with Anthony Giansanti scoring on a passed ball with John Andreoli at the plate to give Tennessee the early 1-0 edge.
Tennessee added four runs as they batted around in the top of the third, receiving a two-run single from Dustin Geiger and back-to-back two-out RBI singles from Jeudy Valdez and starting pitcher Joe Gardner to extend the lead to 5-0 in favor of the Smokies in the third.
The Suns had to wait until the bottom of the fourth inning to get on the scoreboard, with Joe Benson (HR, 5) cranking a three-run homer for the second consecutive today to pull the Suns to within 5-3 after four innings of play.
Jacksonville cut the deficit to one run in the bottom of the fifth when Rafael Furcal came in to score from second on Austin Nola's two-out RBI single into left center, trimming Tennessee's lead to 5-4.
The Smokies began to right the ship with two runs in the top of the seventh, receiving a Southern League-leading 22nd home run from Kris Bryant (HR, 22) to lead off the inning as well as a two-out RBI single from Anthony Giansanti to extend Tennessee's lead to 7-4 after six and a half innings of play.
But the Suns weren't done just yet. Jacksonville cut the lead to two after Alfredo Silverio was hit by a two-strike pitch from Jeff Lorick with the bases loaded, and then were able to tie it up when Wilfredo Gimenez guided a two-strike pitch through the right side for a two-out, two-run single to bring the score level at 7-7 after eight innings.
The score remained even at 7-7 heading into the bottom of the 10th inning, when Alex Burg (HR, 5) uncorked a one-out opposite field solo home run to right to give the Suns their second consecutive walk-off win over the Smokies.
After trailing 5-0, the Suns tied their largest comeback victory on the 2014 season, having also overcome a five-run deficit in a 7-6 home victory over the Pensacola Blue Wahoos on April 23rd.
Monday's contest featured a 22-minute rain delay prior to the start ballgame.
The Suns will have an off day on Tuesday, but will head to Jackson, Tennessee to start up a five-game series with the Jackson Generals beginning on Wednesday night at 7:05 p.m. CT (8:05 p.m. ET).
