Republic FC to Host Scottish League One Champions Rangers Football Club July 19

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (May 29, 2014) - Sacramento Republic FC will host Scottish League One Champions Rangers Football Club on July 19, 2014 in a friendly match at Bonney Field in Sacramento, Calif. Kickoff time is 7:30 p.m. The match will be presented by Bonney Plumbing, Heating, Air and Rooter Service.

Tickets will go on-sale to the general public on June 12 via Ticketmaster.com. Republic FC Season Ticket Holders will receive tickets to the match through their season ticket package. The match will be broadcast live via YouTube.com and available for viewing on both clubs' websites.

"Rangers Football Club is steeped in tradition with a rich and proud history and thousands of supporters around the globe," said Republic FC Technical Director Graham Smith. "We are honored to host a club with over 142 years of football tradition as Republic FC embarks on its inaugural season and the creation of what it hopes will be as successful a Club history as Rangers."

Based in Glasgow, Scotland, the Rangers are one of the most successful clubs in world football with a record-breaking 54 top flight League Championships, 33 Scottish Cup Final wins, 27 League Cup Final victories and one European Cup Winners' Cup Final. The club is also the first to win 100 major trophies, which it accomplished the feat following its defeat of Moscow Dynamos in 2001/2002 season. Recently the Club won Division 3 and the Scottish League One title following administration.

"The trip to America and Canada is a fantastic opportunity to re-introduce Rangers to the North American fans," said Rangers Manager Ally McCoist. "I am confident the tour will be a success on a number of levels."

The match will be one of four friendlies for Rangers during a 12-day preseason tour of North America. It is the Club's first visit to the U.S. in seven years when it visited in 2007 and played LA Galaxy. Prior to their visit to Sacramento, Rangers will play Ventura County Fusion at Ventura College on July 15.
