Harrisburg Senators News Release
The Harrisburg Senators fourth annual 5K and Fun Run was held Saturday on City Island. The event, which raised money for the Harrisburg Parks Partnership, drew its largest field to date and looked a lot like last year's event.
More than 230 runners competed in the 5K Run while another 100 participated in the Fun Run, which was held at Commerce Bank Park. With the number of participants, the Senators' 5K now ranks as one of the top events in Central PA.
Winning for the second year in a row was John Butler from Mechanicsburg. Butler's time for the 5K was 15:17 and it was much better than last year's time of 15:58. Butler remembered last year's race was a little different.
"I remember that the course was a little linger because we could not finish on the field," said Butler following the race. "I am really pleased with what I did today and finishing in the stadium, it tops off a great course."
Kassy Meholik was the top female finisher at a time of 19:20.
