Binghamton Rumble Ponies News Release
The Erie SeaWolves scored three times in the first and never looked back, defeating the Binghamton Mets 13-7 at NYSEG Stadium Saturday.
Erie (41-34) got to B-Mets starter Orlando Roman in the first, getting an RBI single from Byron Gettis and a two-run single off the bat of Max St. Pierre for the early lead.
The B-Mets (35-36) got a run back in the third on Victor Hall's second home run of the year to pull within 3-1. However, the SeaWolves tacked on three more in the third on Mike Woods' RBI double and a Scott Tousa two-run homer. Erie chased Roman (3-3) in the fifth, scoring three more times on a Mike Rabelo two-run triple and a bases-loaded walk issued by B-Mets reliever Jose Rodriguez to Tousa to go up 9-1.
Chase Lambin led off the Binghamton half of the fifth with his 12th homer of the year, cutting Erie's lead to seven. Aarom Baldiris drove in Binghamton's third run when his double to center scored Wayne Lydon, who walked.
After Erie plated another run in the seventh on two errors and a hit, the B-Mets scored twice in the bottom of the inning, with Lydon picking up an RBI double and Baldiris driving him home with a single for a 10-5 Erie lead. Erie would score three more times in the eighth, but the B-Mets picked up a pair in the bottom of the frame on RBI singles by David Bacani and Zac Clements.
Sunday, the B-Mets play the rubber game of their three-game series with Erie. Kevin Deaton (3-4, 4.13) will start for Binghamton against Justin Verlander (1-0, 0.00) of Erie. Game time is 1:30 at NYSEG Stadium, with the Horizon's Federal Credit Union Pre-Game Show kicking off the radio broadcast at 1:15 on Newsradio 1290 WNBF.
