Renzi Acquired from Dayton for Futures

BILOXI, Miss. – Mississippi coach Bob Woods announced today, the Sea Wolves acquired center Mike Renzi (REN-zee) from the Dayton Bombers for future considerations.

Renzi, 21, appeared in 16 games with Dayton this season, picking up two goals, five assists for a total of seven points, to go along with 69 penalty minutes. The 5-foot-10, 155-pound native of Mississauga, Ontario is in his rookie season of professional hockey. Last year, Renzi finished second in the Ontario Hockey League scoring race by scoring 44 goals, adding a league-high 64 assists, for a total of 108 points in 68 games.

"We were looking for some more scoring and Mike Renzi is a guy that can give us more depth in that area," said Woods. "He's also a feisty, gritty type player that plays a big game."

Renzi will wear Sea Wolves uniform number 20. He is expected to debut with Mississippi at home on Sunday at 5:05 p.m. against Baton Rouge. Mississippi leads the Coca-Cola Cup standings against Baton Rouge, six points to none. An adult buying an individual ticket, receives one FREE ticket for a child 12 and under.

The Sea Wolves host Columbus tonight at 7:35 p.m. All military including active and retired, NASA and Stennis employees buying one ticket, receive one ticket FREE.

Tomorrow, Mississippi visits intrastate rival Jackson at 7:05 p.m. It's Game 4 in the head-to-head battle for the Nextel Cup. The Sea Wolves lead the series, five points to two.
