September 18, 2021 - Triple-A West League (AAA West) - Reno Aces News Release

RENO, Nev. - The Reno Aces beat the Salt Lake Bees tonight 7-2 in a bullpen game, with the relievers throwing six innings of one-run ball, allowing just five hits. Ryan Weiss was the winner on the night, throwing two scoreless innings while allowing just one hit.

Reno struck first, thanks to ack-to-back homers from Christian Lopes and Stuart Fairchild in the second to make it an early 3-0 Aces lead. Alek Thomas went yard in the same inning, taking a solo shot to right field to make it 4-0 with his sixth homer of the season.

The long all marked three straight games with a homer for Thomas, the longest home run streak of his young career.

Salt Lake would pick up a run in the top of the third to make it a 4-1 game.

The Aces were able to answer in the bottom half of the inning, after Juniel Querecuto doubled to drive in Drew Ellis. Querecuto went on to steal third, and steal home on delayed steal to make it 6-1. Querecuto waited until the toss back to the mound, before racing home to beat the throw.

Fairchild drove in another run in the bottom of the fifth, singling to score Querecuto from third and make it a 7-1 Reno lead.

Salt Lake scored one run in the top of the ninth to make it a 7-2 final.

The Aces are back tomorrow, hosting the Bees on Remo Sriracha night at Greater Nevada Field. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m. PT, and tickets are available at or by texting TIXX to 21003. The game can be heard on KPLY 630AM or on with Zack Bayrouty on the call.
