The Lubbock Renegades become reality Friday night in Amarillo, as the Renegades open their inaugural campaign with a National Conference Central Division match-up against the Amarillo Dusters. The I-27 rivals are each opening the season, but for the Renegades, it will be their first game in franchise history. The Renegades open their 16-game season with their first road game, while Amarillo opens the season at home for the first time in their af2 franchise history. Amarillo is 1-1 in season openers in their franchise history. Lubbock will face Amarillo three times this season and this meeting will serve as the only meeting of the season series in Amarillo.
RENEGADES ROSTER
The Lubbock Renegades made several roster moves following their Saturday scrimmage today to comply with af2 roster limits. Head Coach Rodney Blackshear will continue to make roster moves throughout the week leading into Friday night's season opener and may not have any more than 19 active players on the roster. RENEGADES RIVAL RUNDOWN
The Amarillo Dusters are beginning their third season of play in the af2 and their third with Steve Perdue at the helm (10-19, 1-1). Head Coach Perdue will handle both the offensive and defensive coordinating duties, while trying to bounce back from an injury ridden 2006 season. The Dusters went 4-12 last season and closed the season on a nine-game winless streak.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
1 - Game - Friday night's game will see a lot of firsts in franchise history, as the Renegades play in their inaugural game. It also marks "Game 1" for the af2 Head Coaching record for Rodney Blackshear.
