Lubbock Renegades News Release

LUBBOCK, TX: February 20, 2008 - The arenafootball2's (af2) Lubbock Renegades welcome a pair of players that spent time last season with the Lubbock Renegades, as the af2 has assigned fullback/linebacker Orlando Medlock and wide receiver/defensive back Marcus Walker to the club's 2008 roster.

"I am happy to have both players return to Lubbock," said Renegades Head Coach Rodney Blackshear. "Orlando is a veteran that is excited to be back and aims to fill Victor Mann's shoes (Mann advanced to the Arena Football League), while Marcus brings a dimension of having the ability and versatility to play several different positions as he did last season."

Medlock returns to the Renegades, where he began the season last year. The Dallas native joined the Renegades in training camp and appeared in three games before being traded to the Everett Hawks to complete a deal that sent Charles Ealy to Lubbock. Medlock went on to play ten games with the Hawks and accounted for 11 tackles (9 solo). His overall totals last season included 16.5 tackles in 13 games. This season will mark his third pro season involved with Blackshear. The 6'0" 255-pound 25 year-old spent the 2006 season playing under Blackshear in the Intense Football League (IFL) with the Belton based CenTex Barracudas. He ranked second on the squad in tackles for a loss in CenTex with 6.5 and had 21.5 overall tackles in 12 games played. Medlock, part of the Duncanville High School state title team in 1998, was part of three different college programs. He was part of an undefeated 12-0 season at Southwest Junior College Football Conference Champion (2001) Kilgore Junior College prior to transferring to Kansas State and becoming a member of their 2002 Holiday Bowl winning squad. Medlock completed his college career transferring to Utah and serving on the Utes scout team as a walk-on transfer under Head Coach Urban Meyer.

Walker, a Blackville, South Carolina native, returns to the Renegades after spending ten games in two stints with them last season. He appeared in seven games with the team before he was dealt to the Mahoning Valley Thunder for lineman Shalom Tuimalealiifano (too-ee-mawluh-ahl-ee-faw-no). Walker dressed for one game as a backup quarterback with the Thunder before being placed on reassignment. The 6'0" 185-pounder returned to the Renegades in July and played in three games. He primarily was used as a defensive back, finishing fourth in tackles on the team with 27 (19 solo), co-leading the team in interceptions (3) and ranking second in pass breakups with 10. His 66 interception return yards led the team. On offense, Walker had four receptions for 89 yards with three of his receptions resulting in touchdowns. He was named the ADT Defensive Player of the Game on 5/5/07 against Amarillo and received the Cutter's Catch of the Game on 5/19/07 against Oklahoma City.

The two additions place the Renegades with 20 players announced for 2008, as they join Marquis Belton (WR), Jake Bauer (K), Jerome Braziel (DB), LeJuan Edwards (WR/DB), Joseph Harris (WR), Chad Jackson (WR/DB), Marquis Johnson (WR), Xavier Lawson-Kennedy (OL/DL), Anthony Moore (FB/LB) Wali Mumin (DB), Alex Otoo (DB), Elliot Powell (DB), Ronald Redmond (OL/DL), Justin Robinson (DB), Moqut Ruffins (OL/DL), Ty Sellers (QB), Fred Weinke (FB/LB), and Corey White (DB).
