Lubbock Renegades News Release
LUBBOCK, TX- The Lubbock Renegades of the arenafootball2 (af2) found success last season from a receiver from Alabama State named Alvance Robinson, who is currently in the Arena Football League. The Renegades will look again for big production from an ASU graduate, as the af2 has assigned Lorenzo Hoffman to the squad.
"Other than the size, he reminds me a lot of Alvance Robinson," said Renegades Head Coach Rodney Blackshear. "He is tall and athletic, plus his speed and hands are good for his size."
Hoffman, a 6'6" 210-pound rookie, turns pro after competing three seasons at Alabama State University. The Tuskegee, Alabama native was at ASU from 2004-2006 and was teammates of former Renegades receiver Robinson and current Minnesota Vikings quarterback Tarvaris Jackson. Hoffman caught 61 passes for 971 yards and 11 touchdowns. He was a preseason ALL-SWAC selection prior to his senior season and his best season came in 2004 with 415 yards receiving on 27 receptions. Prior to ASU, he attended Tuskegee's Booker T. Washington High School.
The new addition places the Renegades with 21 players announced for 2008, as they join Marquis Belton (WR), Jake Bauer (K), Jerome Braziel (DB), LeJuan Edwards (WR/DB), Joseph Harris (WR), Chad Jackson (WR/DB), Marquis Johnson (WR), Xavier Lawson-Kennedy (OL/DL), Orlando Medlock (FB/LB), Anthony Moore (FB/LB) Wali Mumin (DB), Alex Otoo (DB), Elliot Powell (DB), Ronald Redmond (OL/DL), Justin Robinson (DB), Moqut Ruffins (OL/DL), Ty Sellers (QB), Marcus Walker (WR/DB), Fred Weinke (FB/LB), and Corey White (DB). Media members looking to interview Blackshear or seeking additional information in regards to Hoffman may contact Chris Due at 806-744-5858.
The Renegades are now preparing for the 2008 season and their second in the af2.
