Hickory, N.C. - The Hudson Valley Renegades lost to the Hickory Crawdads 6-5 on a walk-off strikeout on Thursday night at L.P. Frans Stadium.

The Renegades jumped on Jose Corniell in the top of the first, swatting two home runs to take a 3-0 lead. Agustin Ramirez got the scoring started with a solo home run to left, and two batters later, Anthony Garcia pummeled a two-run home run to right.

It was the fourth straight game with a home run for Ramirez, matching the best mark by a Renegade this season with Aaron Palensky, who homered in four straight games from April 23-30.

Zach Messinger turned in a solid start for Hudson Valley, retiring the first nine batters to face him before stranding the bases loaded in the fourth. Hickory broke through in the bottom of the fifth when Cam Cauley launched a three-run home run to right to tie the game at 3-3.

The home run broke a stretch where Hudson Valley pitchers had combined for 17.2 consecutive scoreless innings.

The tie was short-lived as in the top of the sixth Ramirez reached on a single and scored on a two-run home run by Rafael Flores off Seth Clark to put the Renegades back in front at 5-3.

The Crawdads drew even in the bottom of the eighth when Tucker Mitchell hit a two-run home run off Joel Valdez.

In the top of the ninth, the Renegades had runners on second and third against Andy Rodriguez, but could not score.

Frainyer Chavez led off the bottom of the ninth with a double off Clay Aguilar, and pinch-runner Jayce Easley advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Cooper Johnson. The next batter, Keyber Rodriguez, struck out on a ball in the dirt, and when Ramirez threw down to first to complete the strikeout, Easley broke for the plate and scored ahead of the return throw to give Hickory a 6-5 win on a walk-off strikeout.

Hudson Valley and Hickory continue their series on Friday night at L.P. Frans Stadium. The Renegades send LHP Brock Selvidge (0-0, 4.15) to the mound, opposite RHP Emiliano Teodo (2-1, 3.86) for the Crawdads. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m., with coverage on the Renegades Baseball Network beginning at 6:45.

Renegades Record: 52-41, 13-14
