Hudson Valley Renegades News Release

FISHKILL, NY - The Hudson Valley Renegades wasted no time in the first game of their doubleheader against the Aberdeen IronBirds. A four-run first inning propelled the ‘Gades to a 9-2 victory.

Emeel Salem got the ball rolling as he singled off of Aberdeen's left-hander Zach Britton to start the inning. Britton proceeded to walk Cody Cipriano and Maiko Loyola to load the bases. Mike McCormick then singled home Salem to plate the first run. Stephen Vogt capped off the frame with a three-run double to make it 4-0.

Britton (4-4) lasted just one inning as he was relieved by Ryan Stadanlick. The offensive barrage did not let up as McCormick, Vogt, Henry Wrigley and Reid Fronk each reached base via hits to start the third inning. Kevin Colon, Salem and Cipriano each delivered run-scoring hits to make it a 9-1 ball game.

Renegades starter Alex Cobb improved to 4-3 with the win. He was in control as he allowed just two runs on three hits over five innings of work. Cobb struck out four batters and lowered his ERA to 2.90.

*Notes* Aberdeen's Joe Nowicki hit his seventh home run of the season off of Cobb in the second inning...The Renegades stole four bases in the game (Cipriano, Salem, Fronk and Shawn O'Malley)...Gades relievers Brian Flores and Claudio Rodriguez each threw a scoreless inning.

GAME 2

The ‘Gades busted out the lumber again in game-two of the doubleheader. Again, the Renegades put a crooked number on the board in the first inning that paved the way to a 13-5 win over the IronBirds.

With the score in favor of Hudson Valley 8-5 in the sixth inning, second baseman Cody Cipriano put the game out of reach as he blasted a three-run home run. Cipriano went 3-4 with four RBI and three runs scored.

Stephen Vogt, Greg Sexton and Mike McCormick were a combined 6-10 with five runs scored and four driven in.

Reliever John Baird picked up his first win of the season and Kevin Boggan notched his fourth save.

Aberdeen's Josh Tamba fell to 1-3 as he allowed eight runs (six earned) on seven hits over 3.2 innings pitched.
