Brooklyn Cyclones News Release

The Brooklyn Cyclones hosted their cross-river rival, the Staten Island Yankees, at KeySpan Park on Saturday in front of 8,826 fans. Nick Carr started for the Cyclones, but struggled to find his rhythm on the mound. Steve Cheney was called upon in relief after three innings for Carr, and pitched effectively, retiring eight of the nine batters he faced.

The Cyclones put together rallies throughout the game, but were not able to capitalize on their opportunities in a 12-3 loss. The team, though, stayed aggressive on the bases, swiping three bags on the night. Jason Jacobs and Jake Eigisti each contributed with an RBI. Joaquin Rodriguez had two hits, while Matt Bouchard came up big with three hits, an RBI, and a stolen base.

The Cyclones face the Staten Island Yankees again on Monday Night, on Italian Heritage Night at KeySpan Park. The first 2,500 fans will receive a Lee Mazzilli Bobblehead courtesy of Ridgewood Savings Bank and SportsNet New York. Lee Mazzilli will also be in attendance at KeySpan Park on Monday Night.
