Hudson Valley Renegades News Release
The Hudson Valley Renegades and Jersey Shore BlueClaws split a doubleheader on Saturday with each team earning a 2-0 win.
Nate Fassnacht led off the bottom of the first for the Claws in the early game with a home run off Jhony Brito (2-3). Vito Friscia drove in Jhailyn Ortiz with a double in the fourth to account for the second Jersey Shore run.
The Renegades could only muster four hits -- two by Ezequiel Duran -- off starter Dominic Pipkin (3-0). Pipkin worked the first six innings before Tyler Burch pitched the seventh to earn the save. Brito worked five innings, allowing one earned run with six strikeouts. Derek Craft pitched a scoreless sixth inning.
In the nightcap, Duran launched his eighth home run of the year in the fourth inning off Jhordany Mezquita (1-3). Eduardo Torrealba delivered an RBI single in the fifth for the final run of the night.
Mitch Spence (2-1) picked up the win, scattering three hits over five innings. Elvis Peguero worked the final two innings to earn his second save of the season.
The Renegades improved to 33-19 with the win in the second game. They hold a four-game lead over Aberdeen in the North Division and remain in second overall behind Bowling Green for the best record in the league. The top two teams will participate in a best-of-five championship series in September, announced earlier this week on MILB.com
The Renegades and BlueClaws complete their series Sunday afternoon before the Gades return to the Hudson Valley to meet the Brooklyn Cyclones.
Per the State of New York, the Renegades are now open at 100% capacity. Tickets continue to be a tremendous value starting as low as $6. Visit HVRenegades.com for ticket information and so much more.
