Despite Dominguez Ejection, Dash Cruise Past Greenville 5-1

GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Winston-Salem Dash fashioned a 5-1 victory against the Greenville Drive on Saturday night at Fluor Field.

Lenyn Sosaopened up the scoring for the Dash as he clobbered his seventh home run on the season over the center field wall to put Winston-Salem ahead 1-0 in the second inning.

Trouble struck in the bottom of the second as Dash starter Johan Dominguez was ejected for allegedly using foreign substances. Manager Ryan Newman was ejected as well after arguing with home plate umpire Tyler Witte. Dan Metzdorf entered in place of Dominguez.

The Drive scored their lone run in the bottom of the third when Christian Koss drove a sacrifice fly into center to bring home Ian Dawkins and tie the game at one.

Luis Curbelo brought the power bat in the fourth inning, belting his 11th homer of the season to put the Dash ahead 2-1.

Yorvin Pantoja gifted the Dash another run in the seventh inning as he sent Gunnar Troutwine home on a wild pitch.

The Dash tacked on two more in the top of the ninth inning. A.J. Gill doubled to score Luis Curbelo and Johan Cruzhit a sacrifice fly to right to bring home Gunnar Troutwine.

Dan Metzdorf (3-0) nabbed a win, while Greenville starter Grant Gambrell (0-3) took the loss.

With the series at 3-2 in favor of Greenville, the Dash will try to split the series in the finale on Sunday evening. Kaleb Roper will get his second start in the series and face off against Chris Murphy for the Drive. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. ET.
