Ontario Reign News Release
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Ontario Reign (26-10-1-2), defending Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's 2012 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings, ended the Bakersfield Condors (11-26-1-2) four-game winning streak on Tuesday night before 3,288 at Rabobank Arena with a 5-3 victory.
It wasn't until the 16:10 mark of the first period that the Reign took a 1-0 lead with a Colton Yellow Horn power-play goal. The left winger cruised into the Condors zone, picked up a perfect feed across the crease from Mario Lamoureux and knocked it in. Chris Huxley picked up the other assist getting it out of the Reign end.
The Condors tied the game 10:20 into the second period. After a few hacks at the puck in the crease, Peter Boyd lifted it over the pads of Dustin Carlson. The Reign regained the lead with a goal from Kyle Kraemer, his 11th of the season. Matt Clune cleared the puck from the Reign end to Cameron Burt who passed it along to Kraemer who wristed it from the slot past Scott Greenham. Just seven seconds later, the Condors scored another equalizer off a shoveled in shot through traffic.
Merely 40 seconds into the final period Yellow Horn lit the lamp again with a goal similar to his first. He received a pass from Brodie Sheahan on the blockerside of Greenham and found an opening. Lamoureux earned another point and gave the Reign a 4-2 lead scoring with the help of Brady Calla who came out of the penalty box and kept the puck in the Condors end. Yellow Horn struck again on the power play at 15:09 scoring his third Hat Trick of the season tying the Reign record for Hat Tricks in a single season. Justin Pender and Brodie Sheahan assisted the play setting him up perfectly for a clear shot on an open cage. In a last second attempt the Condors scored bringing the score to 5-3 in favor of the Reign.
Carlson earned his first win with the Reign this season stopping 31 of 34 shots, Greenham took the loss stopping 25 of 30 shots.
