
Condors Winning Streak Ends against Ontario, 5-3

CONDORSTOWN, Calif. - The ECHL's leading goal scorer LW Colton Yellow Horn netted a hat trick to lead the Ontario Reign (26-10-1-2, 55pts) to a 5-3 win over the Bakersfield Condors (11-26-1-2, 25pts) Tuesday night at Rabobank Arena.
Condors G Scott Greenham turned away nine Ontario shots in the first period, but it was Yellow Horn scoring his league-leading 27th goal of the season on the power play at 16:10 which gave the Reign a 1-0 lead after one period of play. The Condors were out-shot 10-2 in the frame.
Bakersfield bounced back in the second, posting a 13-11 shot lead and answering the Reign on two occasions. F Peter Boyd scored at 10:20 to tie it up 1-1. F Kyle Kraemer regained the lead at 14:54 for Ontario, only to be answered by Bakersfield seconds later, on LW Brett Lyon's second of the season. The period ended 2-2.
The third frame belonged to Yellow Horn and the Reign. He scored two of Ontario's three goals in the final stanza to put it out of reach. F Jacob Lagace scored in the final seconds for Bakersfield, off a feed from F Nicholas Tremblay to account for the final margin. Greenham made 25 saves in the loss, while Bakersfield out-shot Ontario 34-30 in their first loss on home ice in 2013.

F Francis Verreault extended his point streak to six games (3g-5a). It is the longest scoring streak of the season for Bakersfield... C Nicholas Tremblay now has nine points (4g-5a) in four games with Bakersfield... F Jacob Lagace has three goals in his last two games... F Tyler Brenner, who is currently 2nd on the team in scoring and was recalled Monday by the Toronto Marlies (AHL), was reassigned to Toledo in the ECHL today... D Trevor Hendrikx returned to the lineup tonight for the first time since Dec. 7. He has missed the last 16 games... The Condors will play the next seven games on the road over the next 15 days, with contests in Utah, Ontario, Wheeling, Toledo, Kalamazoo and Las Vegas. Also sandwiched into the stretch is the ECHL All-Star Classic, in Loveland, Colorado on Wednesday, Jan. 23.
They return home to host Colorado on Feb. 1 with Youth Jersey Giveaway Night, sponsored by KGET-TV 17, Hot Hits 93.1 and Rabobank. The first 2,000 kids 12 and under will get a Condors youth jersey featuring Alternate Captain Peter Boyd.
On Saturday, Feb. 2 they play Ontario again on Cowboy Hat Giveaway Night, sponsored by the Emporium Western Store. The first 2,000 fans 5 and older will get their choice between and tan or black Condors cowboy hat (while supplies last).
