ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign, defending Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's 2012 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings, announced the release of forward Ian Boots and goaltender Dustin Carlson from their contracts.

Boots, 26, played in nine games with the Reign since signing with the team on January 15. The rookie forward posted a -5 with no goals or assists.

A native of Akwesasne, NY, Boots split the beginning of the 2012-13 season between the Huntsville Havoc of the SPHL and the Fort Worth Brahmas of the CHL. He has earned 13 professional points from six goals and seven assists in a total of 37 games played.

Carlson, 26, leaves the Reign after appearing in three games. He averaged 3.28 goals-against and posted a 0.875 save percentage with a 1-1-1 record including shootout loss in Alaska.

An alumni of Ohio State University, Carlson has since seen time in the ECHL with Idaho, Toledo, and Ontario for a total of 26 professional games. He has a 3.30 goals-against average and a save percentage of 0.884.
