Reign Fall in Thriller to Condors

Bakersfield, CA - Goaltender Jack Campbell made 36 saves and forwards Mike Amadio, T.J. Hensick and Justin Auger provided goals, but the Ontario Reign (27-14-8-0) fell to the Bakersfield Condors (21-20-5-1) 4-3 at Rabobank Arena Friday night.

The Condors pressured Reign netminder Jack Campbell (L, 36 saves on 40 shots) early and often in the opening period, firing 17 shots on the veteran goaltender, but could not find the back of the net. Inspired by their goaltender, the Reign pushed back at 15:14 when forward Mike Amadio caught a pass from Jonny Brodzinski and bounced a shot between the legs of Condors keeper Jonas Gustavsson (10 saves on 13 shots). Forward Brett Sutter added the second assist.
In the second period, the Reign and Condors traded a trio of goals less than a minute apart with the Reign taking a 3-1 advantage. Condors defenseman Griffin Reinhart made it 1-1 at 9:44 slipping a shot over the glove at Campbell. Moments later, forward T.J. Hensick completed an odd-man rush with Sean Backman to reclaim the lead at 10:16. Off the following faceoff, Reign forward Devin Setoguchi dropped a pass to defenseman Kurtis MacDermid between the faceoff circles and found forward Justin Auger for a rebound at 10:27. Auger's marker chased Gustavsson to the bench in favor of Nick Ellis (W, 11 saves on 11 shots). Late in the period, Condors forward Joey LaLeggia pulled the game within one at 16:06.
The Condors continued their offensive onslaught in the third period, tying the contest at 15:31 as forward Anton Lander redirected a LaLeggia pass over the pads of Campbell. Like the second period, goals came in bursts and the Condors went ahead 21 seconds later as LaLeggia registered his second tally of the game at 15:52. The Reign finished the game 0-for-2 while the Condors went 0-for-3.
