ST. JOHN'S, NL - The St. John's IceCaps exacted revenge against the Albany Devils with a 5-4 win on Saturday night at Mile One Centre.
Brett Lernout struck first for the IceCaps with a blast from the point just under four minutes into the game. Julien Brouillette and Yannick Veilleux picked up the helpers on the first tally. The Devils came back to even it up with a goal from Reece Scarlett later in the frame.
St. John's potted two second period goals to take a 3-1 lead. Charles Hudon fired one past Devils' netminder Blackwood off a play from Chris Terry and Zach Redmond, followed by a tally from Stefan Matteau. Terry and Brouillette both picked up their second assist of the night on Matteau's goal.
Albany came out strong in the third, scoring two goals to tie it up in the first ten minutes. The Devils would then strike again to take a 4-3 lead with a tally from Nick Lappin. The IceCaps fought back with two unanswered markers for the win. Hudon picked up his second of the night (from Redmond), while Terry potted the game-winner off a great play by Nikita Scherbak and Hudon.
