Dayton Dragons News Release

The Cincinnati Reds and Minnesota twins made a two player trade at the minor league level on Friday and the Dragons have picked up a new closer as a result. The Reds sent AA infielder Ryan Owens to Minnesota for A pitcher Josh Daws. Daws began the 2003 season with the Fort Myers Miracle of the Class A Florida State League, posting a 0-1 record with five saves and a 3.86 ERA. The right-hander pitched in the MWL in 2002 with the Quad City River Bandits and picked up 17 saves in 26 appearances while sporting a 1-3 record and a 2.43 ERA.

To make room for Daws on the 25-man roster, the Reds have reassigned Edduar Jumelles to extended spring training in Sarasota, Florida. Jumelles appeared in ten games with the Dragons in 2003 and had a 2-2 record with one save and a 7.71 ERA in 11.2 innings of baseball pitched. Daws will wear #12 and be in uniform Saturday for the third game of the four game series between the Dragons and the Wisconsin Timber Ratters at Fifth Third Field.
