Dayton Dragons News Release

Domonique Lewis came through when his team needed him most Saturday night. The Dragons outfielder, who entered the game in the eighth as a pinch runner, picked up a two out RBI walk off single in the ninth as the Dayton Dragons (14-15) won their second straight over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (13-13) 4-3, in front on 8,187 at Fifth Third Field.

Wisconsin jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top half of the first inning off Dayton starter Camilo Vazquez (ND) with two unearned runs. Corey Harrington reached on a two-base error by third baseman Mark Schramek, was wild pitched to third and scored on a SAC fly off the bat of T.J. Bohn. Jon Nelson followed Bohn with a solo HR to give the "T-Rats" the early advantage.

Wisconsin starter Juan Sandoval (ND) held the Dragons in check until the fourth when Justin Davis led off the inning with a double. Travis Wong advanced Davis to third on a fly out to right and Schramek knocked JD home with a single to left to cut the lead to 2-1.

The Dragons tied the game in the sixth off Sandoval after Wong reached on an error by Michael Garciaparra. Schramek's second hit of the game moved Wong to second and Brad Correll's RBI single scored the DH to tie the game at 2-2.

The teams traded runs in the bottom of the eighth and top of the ninth to even the score at 3-3. Ryan Hanigan gave the Dragons a short lived 3-2 lead, when his single plated Lewis who was pinch running for Wong. The Rattlers tied the game off Todd Coffey (W, 1-0) in the ninth on an RBI single from Gary Harris that scored Tim Merritt who led the inning off with a base hit.

Lewis picked up the walk off winner in the bottom of the ninth off Bryan Heston (L, 1-2). After a lead off walk to Junior Ruiz, a SAC bunt from Kevin Howard and an intentional walk to Davis, Lewis slapped a single through the left side and the Dragons picked up the walk off win 4-3.

The Dragons and Timber Rattlers wrap up the series with a 2 PM first pitch Sunday at Fifth Third Field. 1410 ESPN Radio WING AM will carry the third game live with the pregame show beginning at 2:30 pm. LHP Juan Frias will get the start for the Dragons while LHP Bobby Livingston will throw for Wisconsin.
