LH Michael Ballard (1-0, 5.40) vs. LH Chase Wright (1-0, 2.25)

TONIGHT: The RedHawks and Nashville Sounds (Milwaukee Brewers) play the third of a 4-game series at Greer Stadium. The series is even at one apiece after Nashville's 4-2 win yesterday. The RedHawks are 4-2 on this 8-game trip and share with Nashville the PCL's bets record at 9-5. OKC is 1 game ahead of Albuquerque in the American South, while the Sounds are 2 games up on Memphis in the American North. Lefty Michael Ballard gets the start for the RedHawks. He has faced Nashville once in his career, appearing in relief in a no decision April 15, 2009. Lefthander Chase Wright gets the start for Nashville.

OFFENSE LIMITED TO A GENTRY HOMER: A pair of Nashville pitchers limited the RedHawks to a season-low 2 runs yesterday in a 4-2 Sounds win. The RedHawks had established a season high in runs during Tuesday's series opener with 8. Center fielder Craig Gentry accounted for both OKC runs yesterday with a 2-run homer against starter Chris Waters. OKC's 5 hits were the second lowest in a game this season behind Monday's 4 at Memphis.

SMOAKING: Justin Smoak brings a 12-game on-base streak into tonight's contest. Smoak leads the PCL with 16 walks and is fourth in on-base percentage at .500.

TEAM RANKINGS: OKC's 3.14 team ERA is third in the league behind Colorado Springs (2.96) and Nashville (3.02). The RedHawks share the league lead with 2 shutouts. Offensively, the RedHawks have dipped to second in the PCL in on-base percentage (.364) and slugging (.449). The RedHawks are third in team batting (.281) despite hitting .245 through the first 6 games of this trip. OKC is tied for second in homers with 14.

LATE RUNS: OKC has scored 72 runs this season and 34 have been in innings 7-9 (12 runs in the seventh, 13 in the eighth and 9 in the ninth). OKC is second in the league in runs behind Albuquerque's 92.

MORELAND GETS THE ASSIST: RedHawks right fielder Mitch Moreland leads the PCL with 4 outfield assists. He threw out a runner trying to advance to third in a fly out both Monday and Tuesday. Moreland, a former closer at Mississippi State, has 3 assists in the past 6 games.

SALTALAMACCHIA CONTINUES REHAB: Texas Rangers catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia served as the DH in his second rehab game yesterday. He is due to return to catching tonight and tomorrow. Texas' opening-day catcher, Saltalamacchia went on the 15-day DL April 8 with a left upper back strain. Last season, Saltalamacchia experienced shoulder problems in early August and started only four games after Aug. 4, eventually undergoing surgery for Thoracic Outlet Syndrome Sept. 21. More information on him can be found on page 5 of today's notes.

HOLLAND THE PITCHER OF WEEK: OKC lefty Derek Holland is the PCL's first Pitcher of the Week. Holland has won his last 2 starts with scoreless performances, most recently Sunday. Holland has not allowed a run in 14.2 consecutive innings dating to a solo homer by Albuquerque's Michael Restovich on April, 8, which remains Holland's only run allowed in 19.2 innings this season. Holland's a 0.46 ERA is tops in the league. OKC had the distinction of having the first Pitcher of the Week in 2009, when Luis Mendoza took home the honor.

DOT...DOT...DOT: OKC has hit into 19 double plays while turning 9 in the field...Gregorio Petit has played every inning at short, the only RedHawk to man one position for the entire season...Chad Tracy is fifth in the PCL in slugging at .679...yesterday's loss by starter Guillermo Moscoso was the first losing decision for a RedHawks starter this season after 5 wins...Clay Rapada has put together a 7.2-inning scoreless streak over his last 5 games.
