TODAY'S OPPONENT:

The Nashville Sounds are the Triple-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. They have been a member of the PCL since 1998. Last year, Nashville finished tied for first in American North Division with a 76-68 record. They won the division title by a tie-breaker over Iowa.

VS. NASHVILLE:

The RedHawks are 4-10 against the Sounds this season, winning all four series openers and losing the other 10 games. Oklahoma is 2-3 at Nashville this year.

TODAY'S GAME:

This is game 132 of the season and the third of a 6-game series between Oklahoma and Nashville. This is the 15th of 18 meetings between the RedHawks and Sounds this season.

LAST GAME:

The Sounds evened the series 1-1, with an 8-5 win against the RedHawks last night. Tug Hulett hit a 2-run homer in the first and Kevin West hit a solo shot in the fourth as the RedHawks built a 5-1 lead after the top of the fifth. In the bottom of the fifth, spot starter Steve Rowe ran into trouble as Vinny Rottino led the inning off with a solo homer, making the score 5-2. After a strikeout and two walks, the Sounds tied the game on a Tony Gwynn triple that would end the night for Rowe. Ezequiel Astacio took the loss as he came in to relieve Rowe and allowed three runs on two hits, including a Laynce Nix 2-run homer, as the Sounds took control of the game 8-5.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Derek Lee

makes his second start of the season for the RedHawks. He didn't figure in the decision Sunday at New Orleans, allowing one run on five hits in 4.1 innings. Lee was 0-1 with a 3.00 ERA in two starts against the Sounds last season. The Sounds will send Carlos Villanueva to the mound. Last season, Villanueva picked up a win against the RedHawks April 24 at The Brick as he allowed one run on three hits in seven innings of relief.

REDHAWKS LOSE ONE ON ROAD:

The RedHawks fell to 20-8 in their last 28 road games. The Hawks are hitting .282 with 41 homers in the last 28 road games. They have outscored their opponents 170-99 during that time. The pitching staff has a 3.08 ERA in that stretch.

GOLD STREAK ENDS: Nate Gold's

8-game hitting streak came to an end last night, but he still knocked in his team-high 94th RBI of the season. He has put up big power numbers this month, with 11 homers with 25 RBIs in 22 August games. Gold also leads the RedHawks with 24 home runs. The RedHawks are 12-2 in the last 14 games Gold has homered.

GO WEST: Kevin West

has hit safely in 10 of 11 games since coming off the DL Aug. 12. He's hitting .310 with a three homers and four RBIs during that stretch. West has homered in back-to-back games in this series.

LETS CALL IT AN OPENER:

The RedHawks have scored 29 runs in winning the first game of all four series this season against the Sounds, but the Hawks have only managed 26 runs in their 10 losses against the Sounds. The RedHawks have outscored the Sounds 29-11 in their wins, and they have been outscored 60-26 in their 10 losses.

FRANKLYN THE CLOSER: Franklyn German

has converted his last two save chances. He leads the Hawks with five saves. He has allowed only one run, with 14 strikouts in his last nine appearances, spanning 9.1 innings.

LEAGUE LEADERS: Freddy Guzman

leads the league with 50 stolen bases. Tug Hulett is fourth with 89 runs scored.

DOT-DOT-DOT:

The RedHawks are 12-7 on Friday this season...the RedHawks have scored first in 10 of 14 games against the Sounds this season...the Hawks are 6-0-3 in their last nine road series...the RedHawks have at least one extra-base hit in 25 straight games...
