Oklahoma City, Okla. - Andy Van Hekken delivered six shutout innings while three different hitters knocked in runs leading the Oklahoma City RedHawks (37-50) to a 3-2 win over the Iowa Cubs (41-46), completing a three-game sweep before 3,560 Wednesday night at RedHawks Field at Bricktown.
Van Hekken (3-4) allowed six hits in six shutout innings with three walks and five strikeouts for the winning decision. Iowa starter Nick Struck (0-1) allowed two runs and six hits in five and one-thirds inning for the losing decision in his Triple-A debut. Casey Fien (3) allowed a two-run home run in the ninth, but completed the save.
Oklahoma City scored two runs in the third inning against Struck. Luis Durango reached on a running bunt single and scored on a J.B. Shuck triple to right-centerfield for a 1-0 score. Collin Delome next singled in Shuck for a 2-0 lead.
The RedHawks added an unearned run in the eighth inning against reliever Scott Maine. Robinson Cancel singled and moved to second on an error by left fielder Ty Wright before scoring on a Koby Clemens double for a 3-0 score.
Iowa broke up the shutout bid in the ninth inning when Bryan LaHair belted a two-out, two-run home run to right field, his PCL-leading 24th, cutting the RedHawks lead to 3-2.
