Rosemont, Ill. - Six Fargo-Moorhead home runs and seven quality innings from RedHawks starter D.J. Brown sunk the Dogs in a 10-5 loss Tuesday afternoon at Impact Field.

Chris Jacobs homered twice and drove in four runs, and four other RedHawks went yard as the Dogs pitching staff saw their total number of long balls allowed in the month of July swell to 29.

Fargo-Moorhead struck immediately with two runs in the top of the first on the strength of two hits and error, including Jacobs' first home run of the game. Jacobs struck again for a three-run shot in the top of the fourth. The home runs were the seventh and eighth of the year for the Fargo-Moorhead first baseman and his fourth and fifth home runs in his last seven games.

RedHawks starter D.J. Brown did not allow a hit until a Treysen Vavra infield single in the bottom of the fourth and didn't allow a Dogs run until the bottom of the seventh inning.

Trailing 9-0 after solo home runs from Brennan Metzger and Leobaldo Pina for Fargo-Moorhead, the Dogs scored on the strength of three straight hits to begin the frame. Mike Falsetti singled, Kenny Wilson doubled, and Edwin Arroyo plated Falsetti with an RBI single. Rubi Silva then drove in Wilson with a sacrifice fly.

Brown worked seven innings for Fargo-Moorhead, allowing two runs on six hits, to earn his seventh victory of the season.

Down 10-2 entering the bottom of the ninth inning, Chicago mounted a mini rally, sending eight men to the plate and scoring three times. Dalton Blaser capped the rally with an RBI double, but Stephen Perez flew out with two runners in scoring position to end the game.

The Dogs left 11 runners on base, one night after stranding ten men, and are now 4-20 in the series with runners in scoring position.

Evan Smith made the start for Chicago, lasting only four innings, and allowing six earned runs on nine hits. Smith took the loss, dropping his season record to 1-1.

With the win Fargo-Moorhead earned a victory in the series and pushed their season record to 34-27. Chicago falls to 24-38 on the year with the loss.

The Dogs will look to stave off the sweep in the series finale Wednesday night at Impact Field. In an all-lefty pitching matchup, Chicago will send Scott Barnes to the hill, while Fargo-Moorhead will counter with Will Solomon.

First pitch on a Wiener Wednesday from Impact Field is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. The game will be broadcast at www.thechicagodogs.com/broadcasts/ with the Crowne Plaza Pregame Show beginning at 6:45 p.m.
