Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks News Release

FARGO, N.D. - The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks made a series of transactions today, activating RHP Todd George from the Inactive List and signing him to a contract and releasing INF Kory Wayment and LHP Jake Laber, the Northern League club announced. George will be active and get the start in tonight's 7:00 p.m. game against the Kansas City T-Bones at Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo.

George, 29, was 3-4 with a 5.09 ERA in ten starts for the RedHawks in 2007. He joined the club in mid-July after pitching in a Mexican professional league to start the year. He pitched 58.1 innings, allowing 37 runs (33 earned) on 62 hits. George struck out 27 batters and walked 33.

George is entering his sixth season with the RedHawks after being acquired via trade with the Gary RailCats during the 2003 season. He has gone to post a 35-18 record with a 3.65 ERA in 77 appearances (75 starts). He ranks fourth all-time in RedHawks victories, trailing only RHP Greg Salvevold (45), RHP Justin Fletschock (44) and RHP Jeff Bittiger (36).

REDHAWKS NOTES...

Veteran free agent OF Jimmy Hurst arrived in Fargo late Monday night and will work out with the RedHawks prior to Tuesday's game against the Kansas City T-Bones. He will likely be signed to a contract and activated prior to Wednesday night's game.
