
RedBlacks Sign Canadian Defensive Lineman Stefan Charles on Opening Day of CFL Free Agency

OTTAWA - The Ottawa REDBLACKS made their first move of CFL Free Agency on Tuesday, locking up 6-foot-5, 323-pound national defensive tackle Stefan Charles.

The 32-year-old Oshawa native and University of Regina product will join his second CFL team as a member of the REDBLACKS after signing with the Edmonton Football Team late in the 2019 season. Charles had been drafted by Edmonton in 2013.

"Stefan is a proven national defensive tackle who will give us power, experience and ratio flexibility," said REDBLACKS GM Marcel Desjardins. "He's a player who was really intrigued about playing in Ottawa and we're happy we were able to come to an agreement."
Prior to joining the CFL, Charles spent time with a number of NFL teams, most recently the Atlanta Falcons. He has also been on the rosters of the Tennessee Titans, Buffalo Bills, Detroit Lions, Jacksonville Jaguars and Kansas.
