MEMPHIS, TN - After a rain delay of over an hour, Memphis topped Iowa 7-2 Thursday night at AutoZone Park to remain in a first-place tie with Nashville.

Redbirds starter Brandon Dickson was sharp over seven innings to notch his team-leading seventh win and fifth straight. Dickson allowed only one run on seven hits with five strikeouts to send the ‘Birds to their third consecutive win. Iowa starter Casey Coleman took the loss allowing seven runs, six earned, on nine hits over four-plus innings.

Memphis used a four-run rally in the fifth inning to put the game away scoring four runs on five hits. Jon Jay paced the ‘Birds with a pair of hits and two RBI, including a solo home run. Allen Craig and Daniel Descalso each added two hits in the victory. Both of Iowa's runs came on solo home runs with Marquez Smith and Bryan LaHair belting homers.

The Redbirds and Cubs play tomorrow night with game time slated for 7:05 p.m. and fireworks to follow the game. AutoZone Park will host an Ode to the Clap tomorrow night with giveaways pertaining to one of the oldest forms of approval. Memphis will send Evan MacLane to the hill to face I-Cubs right-hander Mitch Atkins. For ticket information call 901.721.6000 or visit memphisredbirds.com.
