Memphis, Tenn. - Memphis used a huge seven-run eighth inning to blow out New Orleans 11-1 on Saturday night in front of 10,231 fans at AutoZone Park.

The Redbirds offense exploded in the eighth with Rico Washington's pinch hit, two-run homer capping the rally. Brian Barden led off the inning with a triple and scored on Colby Rasmus single one batter later. Shane Robinson knocked in a run with a single and later scored on Bryan Anderson's three-run double. Barden finished the night a double shy of the cycle going 3-for-5, including a two-run homer in the third inning.

Memphis starter Clayton Mortensen picked up the win with six solid innings. The right-hander allowed one run on four hits with three strikeouts. Tony Armas took the loss for the Zephyrs after giving up one run on three hits in two innings.

The Redbirds and Zephyrs wrap up their four-game series tomorrow with Memphis going for the sweep. Brad Thompson is scheduled to start for the ‘Birds tomorrow against Z's lefty Willie Collazo. First pitch is slated for 1:35 p.m.
