New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release
The red hot Memphis Redbirds continued their winning ways on Saturday night at Autozone Park, drilling three home runs enroute to a 11-1 win in front of 10,231. Starter Clayton Mortenson worked six innings and allowed one run on four hits and improved to 3-1 on the season. Memphis led 4-1 in the eighth inning when the Redbirds erupted for 7 runs to blow open the contest. The Zephyrs loss is their season high seventh consecutive and the Redbirds have now won six in a row. Memphis was led by Bryan Anderson's three RBI but had home runs from Rico Washington, Brian Barden and Josh Phelps. The Zephyrs offense continued to struggle managing six hits and grounding into a pair of costly double plays. New Orleans starter Tony Armas allowed one run in two innings and suffered the defeat. Nelson Figueroa pitched five innings of relief allowing three runs. Newcomer Eude Brito allowed six runs in two thirds of an inning. Memphis leads the series three games to none with the series finale on Sunday afternoon.
