SPOKANE, Wash. - The Eugene Emeralds collected seven extra base hits in the first three innings then held on by the skin of their teeth to beat the Spokane Indians, 10-9, in game five of this six-game series on Gift Card Giveaway Night presented by MultiCare and SWX.

-TOP PERFORMERS

Hunter Stovall had one of his best nights of the season. He finished 3-for-4 with a two-run homer.

Tyler Fitzgerald returned to the lineup and continued to torment Spokane. He smacked a pair of doubles and his team-leading 10th homer of the season.

Brett Auerbach launched a three-run homer to cap off a six-run top of the third that gave Eugene a 10-4 lead.

BY THE NUMBERS

Spokane scored their first seven runs on just four hits. Their first five runs were scored on a sacrifice fly, a wild pitch, a passed ball, and two groundouts before Stovall's two-run homer. They also scored on a balk in the seventh inning.

Breiling Eusebio gave up seven runs in 2.2 innings. Since arriving in Spokane, he has allowed 18 runs in 10.1 innings.

Eugene has scored 64 runs in their last six games at Avista Stadium.

KEY MOMENT

After Spokane cut Eugene's 10-4 lead in half, they loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh with nobody out. Austin Reich came out of the Emeralds' bullpen and induced a 5-2-3 double play and avoided a huge inning.

Down 10-8 in the ninth, the Indians put runners on the corners with one out and brought Michael Toglia to the plate as the potential winning run. Toglia struck out, but Niko Decolati stole second base to put two men in scoring position for Stovall, who walked to load the bases. A wild pitch brought in Aaron Schunk and advanced the tying and winning runs into scoring position. But Daniel Montano struck out to end the game and give Eugene a heart-pounding win.

AROUND THE LEAGUE

Hillsboro scored two eighth inning runs to squeak by Vancouver, 4-3.

Everett remains 4.5 games up on Eugene after a walk-off, 4-3 win over Tri-City.
