Charlotte Knights News Release

FORT MILL, S.C. - The Charlotte Knights were unable to get the season sweep of the Rochester as the Red Wings won a 12-10 slugfest at Knights Stadium. The win was the Red Wings first in eight games against the Knights this season.

The Knights were forced to start RHP Freddy Dolsi after scheduled starter Carlos Torres was called up to the major leagues to start for the Chicago White Sox. Dolsi lasted just one inning as he yielded four runs in the first including a two-run homer to first baseman Brock Peterson.

Despite falling behind early the Knights battled back in the 3rd inning to cut the score to 6-5 thanks to a 3-run home run from right fielder Stefan Gartrell. The homer was Gartrell's team leading 22nd of the season. Rochester put three more runs up on the board in the 7th to extend the lead, but again Charlotte rallied. The Knights came through with a five run 7th inning including a grand slam home run from third baseman Brent Morel.

The final big inning of the wild game came from the Red Wings when Brendan Harris was able to connect on a three run homer to give Rochester the 12-10 lead and eventually the win. The win ended the Red Wings nine game losing streak. The two teams combined to use 11 different pitchers and six home runs were hit in the game.

The Knights will start a four game series on Thursday against the Toledo Mud Hens at 7:15 PM. The Mud Hens will start RHP Alfrado Figaro (9-6, 3.89 ERA) and the Knights will start RHP Lucas Harrell (9-9, 4.24 ERA).

The Charlotte Knights are the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. For ticket or event information, please contact the Knights front office at (704) 357-8071 or (803) 548-8050 or visit our website at for more information.
