Flint Firebirds News Release
Flint, Mich. - The Flint Firebirds announced today that former Detroit Red Wings player and current color commentator, Mickey Redmond, will be joining Jack Sznewajs for Games 3 and 4 of the Western Conference Finals for the TV and radio broadcast on the Firebirds Hockey Network (FHN).
Redmond has been the Red Wings' primary color commentator since 1985, having called games alongside the late Dave Strader, Mike Goldberg and current Bally Sports Detroit play-by-play announcer Ken Daniels who, alongside Redmond, have been the main Red Wings TV duo for 25 years.
Additionally, Redmond played over 500 career NHL games tallying 428 Pts in his career. He was the third player in NHL history to record back-to-back 50-goal seasons and was the first to do so in Red Wings history. He broke Gordie Howe's single-season franchise goals record of 49 in the process.
The former Peterborough Pete was the winner of the Red Tilson award, the league's Most Valuable Player, back in 1967. He produced 268 Pts. in 201 OHA GP for the Petes during his career, good for 11th all-time in franchise history.
