The Rochester Red Wings scored 7 runs in the top of the third inning at McCoy on Monday night, and hung on for an 9-6 win over Pawtucket. Starter Nelson Figueroa lasted two and two thirds innings, allowing all 8 runs (7 earned). In the third, eleven men came to the plate for the Wings. Wilkin Ramirez blasted a Grand Slam and Brian Dinkleman added a two run shot. The PawSox countered with a couple of solo homers early in the game. Tony Thomas and Daniel Nava (ML rehab- wrist) homered in the second and fourth, respectively. In the seventh Nate Spears tripled in a pair of runs and scored on a Rochester throwing error. In the eighth the Sox scored again when Andy LaRoche doubled and Thomas sacrificed to bring him home.

Esmerling Vazquez (9-5) went 6 innings for the win. For Pawtucket, Tony Pena pitched well in relief. Pena tossed three and a third scoreless innings. First place Scranton won its' ballgame, so the PawSox (70-61) are 5 games out of first with 13 to play.

The series and homestand wrap up on Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. Lefthander Pedro Hernandez (1-1) will face Daisuke Matsuzaka (0-3)
