TODAY'S GAME: The Red Wings and RailRiders play the rubber game of their 3-game set on Wednesday night at 6:35 p.m. from PNC Field in Moosic, PA. The Red Wings won 2-1 Tuesday night on the strength of a solo home run from 1B Chris Colabello in the 9th inning that broke a 1-1 tie. RHP Anthony Slama locked down the Wings 2nd win of the season with a 1-2-3 ninth inning for his first save of the season and 101st of his career. Rochester will send RHP Kyle Gibson to the mound Wednesday coming off a solid first outing against Buffalo last week opposite Yankees prospect RHP Dellin Betances. Next, the Wings will head to Pawtucket to open a 4-game series against the Red Sox Thursday-Sunday -- the Paw Sox swept the RailRiders in a four-game series to start the season.

WITH A WIN TODAY, THE WINGS...

-Will win their first series at PNC Field since taking 2 of 3 from SWB 8/19-8/21/08... Rochester did win a one-game "series" over SWB at PNC Field on 4/17/11 (Game 1 of the 2-game series was postponed)

-Will have their first series victory over SWB since a two-game series sweep 7/30-7/31/11

-Will win a series for the first time since take 3 of 5 from Buffalo at Coca-Cola Field 8/25-8/28/12

-Will win back-to-back games for the first time this season.

MORE ABOUT YESTERDAY...:

-Close Calls : The Wings picked up their first one-run victory of the season Tuesday... Last year the Wings went 17-17 in one-run games and 56-42 in games decided by 3 runs or less.

-Comeback Kids: Rochester won in comeback fashion last night for the first time this season erasing a 1-0 deficit after 5 innings... The Red Wings recorded 32 come-from-behind wins a season ago, 12 when trailing after the 5th.

-Strike 3: The Red Wings struck out a season-high 12 batters yesterday... Starter P.J. Walters bounced back from a shaky Opening Day start when he recorded just one strikeout to punch out 7 RailRiders on Tuesday in 5.1 innings... LHP Caleb Thielbar added 3 more and is now tied for the team lead with 8 SO despite pitching just 5.1 innings.

-LHP Tyler Robertson tossed 0.1 IP (striking out L. Murton with 2-on in the 8th) to earn his first win of the season... It was the first time a Red Wings pitcher won a game by throwing less than an inning since Bobby Lanigan earned the win on 7/3/12 @ PAW by tossing just 0.1 IP... Robertson is the first Wings pitcher to work back-to-back days in '13

GIBSON GAINING GROUND: Tonight's Red Wings starter Kyle Gibson got off to a nice start in Buffalo last Friday allowing just one run on 4 hits in 5 innings. It was the first time the former Twins first round pick had thrown five innings in a regular season game since July 22, 2011 - his last start before undergoing Tommy John surgery that September... Gibson carries a 4-inning scoreless streak with him into tonight's start - his longest such stretch since tossing 11 scoreless frames in a two-start span from May 23-29 in 2011.

BASE ON BALLS BETANCES: The Red Wings have fared well in 3 career games against tonight's RailRiders' starter Dellin Betances... The Yankees prospect is just 0-1 with a 6.58 ERA (10 ER/13.2 IP) with 19 WALKS in 3 GS against the Wings from 2011-12... Last season, the 6-8, 260 pound righty walked a minor league high 99 batters (only Ricky Romero and Edinson Volquez walked more hitters in baseball - 105 BB each)... For his career he has averaged 4.9 BB/9 IP (306 BB/561.1 IP)

BULLPEN BETTER: Four different relievers combined to toss 3.2 scoreless innings in last night's 2-1 win over Scranton/ WB... Prior to last night, Gene Glynn went to his bullpen 15 different times and only 3 times was a reliever able to post a zero... LHP CalebThielbar - 1.2 scoreless innings last night - has a team high 3.2 inning scoreless streak... LHP Tyler Robertson is the only Red Wings reliever to not allow a run yet.

CLUTCH HITTING : The Red Wings rank in the top 5 of the IL in batting average and on base percentage but are hitting just .231 (12-for-52) with RISP this season (T-8th). If you take out the Wings' 7-for-20 effort with RISP on Sunday vs. BUF they are just 5-for-32 (.156 ) in their other five games... Red Wings pinch hitters are 0-for-6 on the year.
