Red Sox announce affiliation changes

Portland Sea Dogs News Release
The Boston Red Sox have announced several minor league affiliation changes Joining the Red Sox family are the Wilmington Blue Rocks and the Capital City Bombers.
Wilmington replaces the Florida State League Sarasota Red Sox as the organization's High Class A team. The Red Sox spent nine years with Sarasota. The Blue Rocks play in the Carolina League in Wilmington, Deleware. Wilmington was previosuly affiliated with the Kansas City Royals. Sea Dogs Manager Ron Johnson was the first manager in Blue Rocks history.
The Blue Rocks have hosted three All-Star Games (1994, 1998, 2002) at Frawley Stadium, and the franchise has been recognized with the prestigious Bob Frietas Award (1999) and the Larry MacPhail Award (1996) for promotional excellence in Minor League Baseball. The franchise has led the Carolina League in attendance each of the last seven seasons.

Capital City replaces the Augusta Green Jackets as the teams Low Class A team in the South Atlantic League.
"Primarily, we were attracted to Capital City because of their management group, led by General Manager Rich Mozingo, and ownership that includes Frank Burke, whose father Dan we've worked with as owner of the Portland Sea Dogs," said Red Sox Director of Player Development Ben Cherington. "The Burke family has a proven track record of excellence in the baseball industry, evidenced by their operation of the Chattanooga Lookouts and our Portland Sea Dogs.
Capital City plays in Columbia, South Carolina and previosuly had a 22 year affiliation with the New York Mets. Boston spent six seasons with the Augusta Green Jackets.
