Buffalo Bisons News Release

The Norfolk Tides used a three-run fifth inning and a great start from the Orioles #6 rated prospect, Keegan Akin, to defeat the Bisons, 4-1, on Friday night from Harbor Park. In a game that took just two hours and 13 minutes, the Tides continued their recent solid play with their ninth win in the last 13 games.

Akin locked in a pitcher's duel with Bisons starter Sean Reid-Foley, as the two prospects kept the opposition off the board for the first four innings. But in the fifth, the Tides took advantage of three walks issued by the Herd righty with back-to-back doubles from Anthony Santander and Ryan Mountcastle. That gave Norfolk a 3-0 lead that they would build to 4-0 an inning later on Chance Sisco's sixth home run of the year.

The Bisons didn't get to Akin until the top of the seventh inning when Reese McGuire singled home Anthony Alford for Buffalo's lone run. By then, Akin had racked up six strikeouts while only issuing one walk to earn his first Triple-A victory.

Akin needed just 89 pitches to get through 6.2 innings of work.

Reid-Foley worked six innings for the Bisons and was sharp other than in the fifth inning. With the loss, he falls to 0-2 on the season.

The Bisons had six hits in the game, but they all came from three hitters. Alford, McGuire and Roemon Fields each had two hits in the contest.
