Red Hot Clippers To Face IronPigs Tonight

The Clippers have won four of their last five games heading into tonight's opener of a four game home series against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs. Tonight will be Lehigh Valley's first ever visit to Columbus and Cooper Stadium. The IronPigs are in their first year of existence after moving from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada where they were known as the Lynx last season. Tonight's game time is 7:05 PM and the Clippers will be sending Garrett Mock (1-0, 4.74) (pictured) to the hill to start for Columbus. It's going to be another fun night back in the Quencher Corner just beyond the left field fence so bring your cowbell and come out early to enjoy food and beverage specials from Roosters and Budweiser! Ohio Health Salutes The Columbus Red Birds This Weekend

This weekend the Columbus Clippers will be saluting the first professional baseball team, the Columbus Red Birds, to have played in what is now known as Cooper Stadium. The Red Birds played from 1932-1954 right here on West Mound Street. Most notable alumni consist of Major League Hall of Famer Enos Slaughter, Hall of Fame Broadcaster and player Joe Garagiola, and Paul Dean, Dizzy Dean's brother. To help celebrate the Red Birds this weekend, Ohio Health is bringing you great Red Birds giveaways this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. On Friday, May 2nd, at 7:25 PM (gates open at 6:00) the 1st 2,000 fans of all ages will receive a Columbus Red Birds Cap. On Saturday, May 3rd, at 7:05 PM (gates open at 6:00) the 1st 2,000 fans of all ages will receive a Columbus Red Birds T-shirt. Finally, on Sunday, May 4th, at 1:05 PM (gates open at 12:00) there will be a random drawing for a commemorative Enos Slaughter figurine. Tickets are still available for the Boy Scout Campover on Saturday, May 17th against the Toledo Mud Hens at 7:05 PM. After the game, campers will have the opportunity to claim their spot in the outfield grass with their stakeless tents. Bring your friends and watch the movie Night At The Museum on the Clippers video board! This is sure to be a camping experience you won't soon forget! The next day, there will be an early morning baseball clinic featuring Clippers players and coaches in addition to a free continental breakfast.
