TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons face the Charlotte Knights in the first game of a four-game series at Dunn Tire Park (7:05pm). The Herd is coming off their first scheduled off day of the 2008 season. The series against Charlotte is part of an eight-game in nine-day homestand. Buffalo is 3-1 so far, thanks to a two-game sweep of Pawtucket and a two-game split with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. On the mound tonight will be LHP Jeremy Sowers. The southpaw last pitched on Saturday at Progressive Field. He allowed just three runs in 5.1 innings for the Cleveland Indians and left with a lead over the New York Yankees. The Knights will counter with RHP Tomo Ohka.
SWEET AND SOWERS: Despite his 0-2 record, LHP Jeremy Sowers has pitched extremely well for Buffalo. The southpaw has not allowed more than four runs in a start this year and his 3.18ERA is the lowest on the team among league qualifiers. Sowers also has two quality starts and a complete game, but the Bisons have score just nine runs in his four starts (2.3R/G).
CALL A COP: The Bisons have turned around their running game and have now stolen 14 bases in 14 attempts in the last eight games. Buffalo began the year only 6 of 10 stealing through the first 19 games. Eight different Bisons now have at least one stolen bases to their credit. Outfielder Jason Tyner leads Buffalo with five steals
STREAKING AGAIN: Infielder Danny Sandoval has the Bisons longest active hit streak with a five-game stretch. He has hit .316 (6-19) with two RBI, three walks and three runs scored since April 25. Sandoval already has the team's first 10-game stretch of the season. He hit in 10 straight from April 6-17 (.297, 11-37).
BISONS BITS: RHP Rick Bauer has pitched scoreless baseball in 10 of his 11 outings. His 5 saves are T4th most in the International League...Jordan Brown leads the International League with 11 doubles...Jason Stanford is 0-1 with a 1.86ERA in his two games since joining the Bisons...Aaron Herr has 14RBI in his last 14 games. He leads the Bisons with 17 runs driven in... Herr and OF Brad Snyder are tied for the team lead with four homeruns.
